LIFE AT THE NURSERY
A DAY IN THE LIFE AT ORANGE SEEDS NURSERY
At Orange Seeds Nursery, each day is fresh and exciting with a structured daily routine. Depending on the class level, the day includes individual and group learning, snack breaks, lunch, sports, gym time, Heuristic play, messy play, circle and story time, outdoor play, and music.
The day begins between 8:00 and 8:30 am. Upon arrival, children are greeted by their teacher or assistant and can explore hands-on activities. After 8:30 am, the formal nursery activities begin.
JUNIOR TODDLER CLASS: 4 MONTHS TO 12 MONTHS
At this age, toddlers are naturally curious and love exploring objects. Our program encourages this curiosity through activities that involve gathering, filling, emptying, stacking, and transferring items. These activities support sensory development and prepare children for preschool. We also maintain a consistent routine similar to what they have at home, helping them feel comfortable and settled in their new environment.
TODDLER CLASS:12 MONTHS TO 2 YEARS
This class is designed for young children who are steady on their feet and ready for new learning challenges. The preschool program includes one-on-one sessions focusing on fine motor skills and sensory exercises. Materials are accessible for self-exploration, helping children refine their movements and learn to feed themselves during breaks. The curriculum also introduces art, group activities, French and Arabic language lessons, music, sports, and circle time.
PRE-SCHOOL CLASS: 2 YEARS TO 3 YEARS
At this stage, children are introduced to a more structured environment with clear ground rules. They are encouraged to make choices from various learning areas, fostering independence. Activities focus on sensory play and language development, using the Jolly Phonics system and sensory sandpaper alphabet symbols. Children start to recognize symbols and associate them with sounds. In numeracy, numeric symbols are linked to quantities through sensory, artistic, and hands-on activities.
FS1 CLASS: 3 YEARS TO 4 YEARS
In the Pre-School 2 class, each child engages in activities tailored to their age, interests, and abilities. Teachers observe daily to determine when a child is ready to progress. While the FS 1 program follows the EYFS curriculum, it’s also Montessori-inspired, allowing children to develop at their own pace. The 7 learning areas and materials are accessible to all children, who are encouraged to challenge themselves. They work individually or in groups during their daily work cycle.
FS2 CLASS: 4 YEARS TO 5 YEARS
At this stage, children develop essential language and numeracy skills for mainstream schooling. They engage in hands-on math activities, counting, comparing, and learning basic addition and subtraction. Fine motor skills are developed through various writing activities, such as tracing letters and writing in different media. By year-end, children can write their names and recognize letter sounds, preparing for reading.
Social interaction, emotional growth, and independence are emphasized. Children learn to follow directions, take turns, share, and cooperate. They are encouraged to make decisions and make good choices.
AFTERNOON CLUB
The Afternoon Club offers extended hours for children, providing extra edutainment daily. It’s designed to give kids a chance to learn new skills in a familiar environment while offering parents flexibility with their commitments. Activities vary each day, including sensory play, cooking, drama, role-playing, and even gardening when weather permits.
EVENTS & CELEBRATIONS
We take pride in embracing a mix of cultures and traditions in our adopted homeland. We celebrate various cultural, social, and religious events throughout the year. Each celebration includes activities, music, and experiences, allowing children and their families to come together and gain a broader understanding of the world around them.
EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
We partner with selected external service providers to enhance our children’s curriculum. Activities like ballet, football, and gymnastics help our children develop additional technical and social skills in a safe and secure environment.
OUR CAMPS
HOLIDAY CAMPS
Outside of regular term times, we offer Winter, Spring, and Summer camps with themed activities and extra hour options. This provides a safe, fun environment for children and additional support for parents year-round.
SPRING CAMP
In these two weeks, kids explore nature, study life cycles, and learn about spring weather. The camp includes experiments, whole grain recipes, nature walks and art projects with natural materials, and scrapbooking.
WINTER CAMP
A fun plan is set for children to enjoy their holidays during the winter camp. Themes focus on the winter and festive season, including a carnival, celebrations around the world, and the importance of giving and sharing with others.
SUMMER CAMP
Each week, we focus on a different theme, often inspired by children’s literature from authors like Julia Donaldson and Eric Carle. The activities, art, role play, music, and yoga lessons are all based on the stories.
